Hey y'all!
I'm over at the Indelibles Blog today talking Editing. I even give away one of my super secret no-fail editing strategies. Okay, it's not really super-secret, but it *is* super time-consuming. It works for me, though.
And I realize it's all subjective, and not everyone connects with every writer's voice and style, but it's reviews like this (From The Guardian) that tell me I must be doing something right for someone:
"Katie Klein's writing style is simply fantastic. There are segments in
The Guardian that I've highlighted and noted just because of how
beautifully written it is. Love love love her prose."
So now you know: I work hard on that prose and trying to get the characters' voices just right. These are always my favorite kinds of reviews. And, while I know I'm not perfect, and there's always room to improve, this is what makes that 2-4 months spent on "non-linear editing" worth it.
