writer. dreamer. hopeless romantic.
creator of drama, tension, and happily ever afters.Hi! You're here! Yay!
Thank you *so much* for stopping by!
My name is Katie, and, on my good days, I write YA novels. On normal days: I teach, I grade papers, I eat way too much fast food, and I play referee to a nine-year-old, a one-year-old, and two dogs. I love to read, watch movies (and quote them), and sit around with my family laughing at all the stupid things we've done over the years (and believe me, we have plenty of memories from which to choose).
I am a self-proclaimed die-hard romantic. I love a good weepy drama and romantic comedy, and they definitely affect my writing. For starters, I'm going to write the kind of story I would want to read, and that means a few laughs, some potential tears, and some "sigh out loud" and/or *squee* moments.
I think the best thing we can do as writers is to draw the reader into the story, and I try to write my biggest or most important scenes with as much emotion as possible. In a way, it makes it easier, because I know what I'm looking for in a scene. If I want to cry, or if I'm squealing on the inside as I'm writing, I know that, most likely, my reader will, too. It's also harder in some ways, because readers have expectations. I try really hard to follow through with my promises and give them a story that takes them away from the world for a few hours.
If you haven't already, I would *love* for you to check out some of my books. I love all of my stories, but if you like dramatic romance, I'd start with Cross My Heart. The majority of my reader email comes from Parker/Jaden fans.
If you have read my books, tell me what you think! I *love* hearing from you. I'm not even kidding. Email me. Sign up for my newsletter. Find me on Facebook. Follow me on Twitter. You know the drill. ;)
It's your enthusiasm and energy that pulls me to the computer every day (even the hard days). So THANK YOU.
And thanks for stopping by!
Be Brilliant! :D
