The Fault in Our Stars Trailer

I'm just going to come out and confess that I have been watching this trailer non-stop for the last two days.

Okay. That's an exaggeration. But still: I've watched it many, many times.

I don't want to jump the gun, but I'm really liking what I see.

Is it possible that the movie version will actually do the book justice?

*fingers crossed*

Luke Castellani

I love a little additional insight into a writer's process after reading books I enjoy, which is why I try to include a Q and A section for each of my works.

If you've read my Guardian Trilogy, you know that in book three (Revelation) we're introduced to Luke Castellani--the most powerful demon on the planet.

You also know that he's *full* of the smexy.

Admit it: demon aside--you would *totally* run away with him.

So here's a little insight for you on this beautiful (albeit frigid) winter afternoon. . . .

This was my Luke Castellani:

INDIE LIFE -- Final Say Re: Content

It's Great to be an Indie because . . .

You have final say when it comes to content.

This points back to "freedom," in general, but it's important to know this about traditional publishing:

After an editor at a publishing house gets involved with your story, chances are things will change—things you may or may not want changed.

There's nothing wrong with editors, and many times their advice is solid and is meant to make the story better. However, sometimes they want big adjustments (with characters, story lines, and even the outcome).

If you're not prepared to make these changes (or feel comfortable doing so), problems can arise. You may feel pressure to "go against your gut," and the end result is a book you're not 100% happy with.

At the end of the day, your name is on the cover:

Tell the story you want/need to tell.

If it's not in line with what a traditional editor is looking for, you may want to reconsider the deal. The good news is: you have options. :D

Because being Indie doesn't have to mean going it alone.
