On Scenes -- Writing Tips

What is the scene's purpose?
What is the character's goal?
What is the outer turning point (i.e. the way things change on the outside)?
What is the inner turning point (i.e. the way the character changes)?
What shift has taken place?
How does the scene meet or fulfill expectations?
How does the scene dash or delay expectations?
What is the scene moving toward?

Answering these questions after writing the scene should give you a clear picture of how strong your scene is and how it fits into the overarching theme and plot of the story.

Answering these questions before you begin writing could save you some time and frustration. :)

Be Brilliant!
